How Does Mulogo's Treatise fit in with the larger world of Ea'ae?*

1/14/2013

Loosely.

Mulogo's Treatise is the type of tome one might happen upon in a
library or athenaeum on Ea'ae... a small thread in a much larger weaving.

Perhaps one day we'll uncover more....

Also, with a few minor additions (mostly characters), much of Ludaceous's references in Mulogo's Treatise survived as the glossary included at the end of each book in the Chronicles of the Fist saga.

Why Mulogo?*

Why not?

In all seriousness, that question has more answers than a wizard can shake a wand at but I'll address a few of them:

1. I like double meanings.

2. I wanted to create a fantasy story that was funny and light but with a bit of practicality...
but mostly laughs.  The concept of a Wizard's Guide to Wizardry seemed to fit
that bill.

3. I wanted to make fun of many common fantasy (and wizardly) conventions.

4. I wanted to try something entirely different but loosely connected to to larger world of Ea'ae explored in the Chronicles of the Fists series.

5. A few other, as yet undisclosed, reasons (feel free to make up your own!).

Why all the haiku?  Are they all yours?*

Mostly because I thought they were appropriate to the books, their feel, and
their themes.  Also, I have never seen it done.  I think the haiku help set each
chapter's tone and give a unique flavor to the books.

The haiku are all mine with one exception.  The travel worn satchel haiku was
inspired by Basho.  Otherwise, each poem was sparked by a moment or place I have been.

I tried to catch the simplicity, purity, and essence of a moment in each one.
